In recent years, many of the most baffling and awe-inspiring killings in the Empire have been attributed to the feared Deathmaster. Some say that he dwelt within the halls of the Dwarf Hold of Karaz-a-Karak for an entire winter, preying relentlessly upon the inhabitants. As much as the Dwarfs searched their most ancient and well defended hold, they could never find the silent assassin. Many a noble Dwarf joined the Slayer Cult in dishonour as the Deathmaster continually evaded capture and circumvented even the most vigilant of guards to strike his lethal blows. Plus of course, we know there is a new Skaven Deathmaster model coming as well, and it appears he will be inside the new Echoes of Doom box too… Add 6″ to movement. Deathmaster Snikch – Shadowy Dealings

Sneaky Skaven assassins have been around for a very long time, but this is the first time we’ve seen one in plastic. As you can see, it’s been updated with some very Warhammer Age of Sigmar -looking terrain while maintaining that classic Skaven look, including having a weaponised tail! Using a host of weapons from the throwing star and blowgun to the repeating crossbow and an arsenal of poisons, these dealers of death are blamed for the majority of suspicious murders in both Skaven and Dwarf societies, not to mention those untimely deaths in the human lands by those who do not deny the Skaven menace. A Deathmaster may have several apprentices, these being the Master Assassins that serve the clan beneath him. Like all master-apprentice relationships in the Under-Empire, there was always enmity between teacher and student, with the Deathmaster and his Master Assassins perpetually scheming to bring about the downfall of one another. [2a] Wargear [ ]Deathmaster by Nature: It would appear that the Eshin's infamous Chief Assassin has been decisively defeated, the victim of his own malice. This is a pretty cool rule to get this model into combat without your opponent really knowing it! Plus, it will add some serious punch to the unit you hide it in. Clan Eshin is one of the Four Great Clans of the Skaven which specialises in the deadly and secretive arts of stealth, murder, poison and assassination learned from the exotic Far East. Out of all the other clans which populate the Under-Empire, Clan Eshin is by far the most secretive and hidden of them all. [2a] Skaven Deathmasters are the most deadly killers of Clan Eshin, masters of murder and sabotage. In battle they are a shadow able to appear at will and are the last thing many leaders see before joining the countless warlords, princes and notables who have already fallen before their blades. [1] Technically, there were only 12 Lords of Decay at any one time, with the 13th seat of the Council occupied by the Great Horned Rat itself.

The Skaven Deathmaster is an expert hero-killer armed with an arsenal of esoteric weapons coated in lethal toxins devised by the Clans Eshin, and more than a match for most targets. Finally, the 1 Mortal wound option has been dropped to just leave the D3 mortal wound option for every enemy unit within 13″ on a 4+. Not bad, especially if you move it into the middle of a crowd.

The Lady of Vines

In the alternate, non-canon timeline of the Storm of Chaos, Deathmaster Snikch returned from the Far East, leading Clan Eshin to support Archaon, the thirteenth Everchosen of Chaos Undivided. His assassins mainly focused on eliminating high-ranking Imperial officials, often within earshot of their personal guard. Other stories attributed to the Deathmaster in recent years involve the killing of the famed Grail Knight Boragild of L'Anguille, a noble knight and victor of countless wars who was beloved across the entirety of Bretonnia.
