AlcoSense Lite may be our entry level product but the design certainly doesn't cut any corners. It may not have all of the technology of the Elite but for the occasional user looking for an indication of their level of intoxication the AlcoSense Lite will more than fit the bill.
I found the Alcosense Pro digital breathalyser met all my requirements and was extremely easy to set up and use. When comparing the readings on both units, I am pleased to say that they are reassuringly similar, with the Ultra marginally on the cautious side, which can't be a bad thing. In December 2014 Diesel Car Magazine performed a group test of 9 consumer breathalysers, the AlcoSense Elite won the group test with the AlcoSense Lite coming in a close second. Using the device is about as simple as it gets. Just slide the cover open, put the blow tube in place, follow the on-screen instructions of how long and how strongly to blow, and inspect the results. The breathalyser then tells you if you are under, close to or over the limit.”

I found the features of the device were very useful, especially the 128 test memory recall with an indelible time and date stamp! I don't think either of my 2 previous Elite's (1 for Scotland) held my confidence for any length of time due to the hit and miss nature of taking a test and some very eratic test results (I always thought a recalibration would be a waste of money). I bought this model in the hope of a vast improvement in ease of use and accuracy and wasn't disappointed. I was initially troubled by the Pro telling me I'm fine to drive but my Elite reporting otherwise but AlcoSense advised me to trust the Pro and have the Elite re-calibrated (which I now intend to do when the Pro is due its service). I await with interest to see how it performs in the coming months. On 5th December 2014 Scotland lowered its drink drive limit from 0.8‰BAC (80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood) to 0.5‰BAC (50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood), England and Wales stay at 0.8‰BAC. AlcoSense reads across both limits so you can use the Scottish or English version of the product in either territory. The AlcoSense Pro features an advanced sampling system to ensure that only deep lung air (the most accurate part of the breath) is measured. It uses advanced sensors to measure the blow pressure, flow rate and volume of breath exhaled and takes a reading when 1 litre of air has been exhaled, ensuring the most accurate sample is always taken. To improve accuracy even further, readings are fine-tuned according to temperature. These sensors also allow the Pro to get clever with BlowCoach™ but that night sleep may have been only a few hours and the "one for the road" will still be in your blood. The AlcoSense™ Elite 3 has been designed to be as easy as possible to use, fitting in the palm of your hand. To activate the breathalyser all you do is turn it on and it will count down 0 while it prepares the sensor, then it will display the blow symbol on screen. When it says blow, blow through the tube for approximately 6 seconds until it beeps. A few seconds later your results will be shown inincrements of 0.01, giving you total clarity on your alcohol level. Like it’s bigger brother, the AlcoSense Lite has been designed to be as easy as possible to use. To do a breath test all you need to do is turn the unit on, wait for it to count down to zero and then blow until it beeps while holding the Blow key down. Easy! Scotland, England or both?Very useful in that it covers many countries automatically setting limit according to that country. Whilst on this holiday in the Republic of Ireland (where the limit is lower than England), it was necessary to adjusting the settings. This again, was a very simple process. Any breathalyzer requires re-calibration after a period of use, the AlcoSense Pro has an industry leading calibration period of 12 months from the first time you use it. To improve reliability and user friendliness AlcoSense Pro reminds you to recalibrate after 11 months of use. When calibration expires just post it to us and we will recalibrate it using Police spec Breath Alcohol Simulators and return it to you within 5 working days.
